Interact Students make an impact on the lives of disadvantaged children

Youth Service

Young people have become a very important component of the Rotary experience. They are the future of Rotary; introducing them to Rotary early teaches the valuable lessons embodied in "Service Above Self".

As important is the support Rotary Clubs give to young people in their endeavors. Clubs give scholarships to students, donations to youth groups, and guidance to Interact Clubs at secondary schools.

Speech Contest

Rotary District 5220 sponsors an annual speech contest, open to high school students from within the district. The theme for 2005, "See The Need", provided students from Bret Harte High School the opportunity to give their views to the club. Shown are, from left, Kaylinn Fiscus, First Place; Keith Collins, Second; Jennifer Rippert, Third; Amanda Kolstad, Fourth; and Rotarian Kristy Moore, contest coordinator. The event was held on March 2 at the Avery Hotel.
