Live Maine Lobster Dinner Plate

Live Maine Lobster Dinner

Our annual Live Maine Lobster Dinner was October 20 at Frogtown. Mark your calendar for the third Saturday in October 2008 for next year's event.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital, Bear Valley Mountain Resort and Black Oak Casino for their sponsorship.

We would also like to thank the following companies and groups for their assistance and donations: Stevenot Winery <> Chatom Vineyards <> Indian Rock Vineyards <> Twisted Oak Vineyards <> Black Sheep / Milliaire Vineyards <> Broll Mountain Vineyards <> Big Trees Market <> Ebbetts Pass Gas <> Party Time / Arnold Rental <> Calamity Jane's Bakery <> Round Table Pizza <> Aspen Street Architects <> Don Fry Realty <> Angels Centennial Rotary <> Angels-Murphys Rotary <> Bret Harte High School Basketball and Softball <> Calaveras Lumber

The following individuals and businesses were invaluable for helping make the Lobster Dinner possible, and to them we send our thanks:

Dave Schmedes and Dave Hitchcock
Lobsters at the ready
Dave Hitchcock has been our Master Chef since the very beginning, and Master of Ceremonies Dave Schmedes took advantage of an opporunity to thank him for all of his efforts.

With the help of the Bret Harte boys baskeball team, these tasty crustaeceans will soon find their way to tables.
Dave Webb and Bob Tussy

Dave Webb and Bob Tussy do a little pre-dinner inspection of the guests of honor.

Yes, it's our biggest fundraiser. Yes, it's a lot more work than your typical benefit dinner. And yes, were it not for family and friends, we might not be able to pull it off every year.

But we think it's the best annual party in Calaveras County, and it offers the best aspects of Rotary: it builds goodwill and better friendships, and there's no question that the food is beneficial to all concerned -- except maybe the lobsters.

Ready for lobster

Guests of the Arnold Rotary Club were ready to feast.

Proceeds from the Annual Live Maine Lobster Dinner fund the many programs supported by the Rotary Club. Throughout the year, we plan our activities based on the resources available to us, and this event provides the large majority of those resources. Below are some of the programs and projects that receive the benefit of your appetite for lobsters.
